In Response to the Christian Response to Decisions Made in NY This Week

Dear Christian Pro-Life Friends,

I have been so inspired by my friends' passionate advocacy for the lives of the unborn in the wake of what happened in New York this week. But I fear that many of us, in our fight for the rights of these precious lives, have sorely neglected the hearts of their mamas. Let our hearts break for the injustice of abortion, but let them also break for the women who have held the tragic belief that it was their only hope. As we post our opinions in public forums, may we remember that we DO NOT KNOW who our audiences are, and we don't know who we could be hurting.

I think the Enemy would love nothing more than to keep our focus on political agenda and off of the souls Jesus died to save. I have never participated in political conversation online before, but this is SO. MUCH. BIGGER. than politics. As the Church (as in you & me, not the building), we are designed to be a place of refuge for the broken and weary. A place where love is offered in place of guilt, grace in place of shame. May we preach Truth boldly- but when we speak it, may we speak it in love. May our message draw people near to Jesus, not drive them away. We can get this right, friends. Go and be love.

♥ always,

Sammy

Dear Mamas Who Have Experienced Abortion or Are Currently Considering It,

You are seen. You are known. You are loved. There is a God whose mercy and grace extend far beyond your circumstance- and if you have heard statements that made you believe otherwise this week, I'm sorry. There is hope for you and if you feel like there is no safe place to go, I would love to be that for you and/or connect you with other loving resources who can care for you in the ways you need. No judgment, no drama. Just ears ready to listen and arms ready to embrace you. If you are currently facing this decision, hear this: Your life and the life within you are so precious to the Lord (and to me). There ARE options for you and I'd love to talk with you about them. Precious girl, you are loved more than you know and you don't have to carry this alone.

♥ always,

Sammy

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
