10 days until I say "bye bye" to Bako!

So I thought now would be a great time for a little update. Friends, I am only $2300 from my support raising goal! I am blown away by the Lord's provision and by the incredible generosity of the people He has placed in my life. I can't begin to tell you how thankful I am!

Side note: If you have supported me in some way in the past couple of weeks, please forgive me. I have fallen a bit behind on my thank-you notes, but I promise you have one coming for you!

Except for the one anonymous donor. I wish I could mail you a little card to tell you how much I appreciate you, but I hope you read this and KNOW. Thank you, whoever you are!

For those of you praying for my grad school application process, it's coming along slowly but surely! I had the chance to visit Loma Linda this weekend with my mom and my friend Paula, and it was even more my dream school than I originally realized. I had the opportunity to meet the director of my program and got a private campus tour with the Dean of the School of Medicine (I know, right?!?). I heard more about the university's heart for missions and service-based learning, and (um, hello) fell. in. love. with the school. Obviously. So I'm continuing to pray that the Lord leads as I put the finishing touches on my applications and prepare them for submission.

This weekend also marked another milestone: I started packing!!! Can you even believe it? It's getting so real, and I am so excited to finally be in the phase of actively preparing for my time in the DR.

If you are in Bakersfield, I would REALLY love to spend some time with you before I go! Look me up and let's get together. If you're in Riverside, I'll be in town at the beginning of the month and would love to see you (meet me at the Brew... or Augie's)! More details to come on that as I figure out some details.

Prayer Requests

Remington: Please pray that I am able to find a home for my sweet puppy! I am working on a few ideas, but I'd love your prayers. It feels silly to pray for this, but it is a detail that needs to be covered so that I can focus fully on this transition. It would mean so much to know he was in a loving home while I'm away.

Grad School: I am still a busy bee, studying away because my Statistics class is over this Friday (insert praise hands emojis here) and I'm taking the GRE this Saturday (insert terrified-face emoji here). I also had a few setbacks with a therapist I was observing, and would love prayer that that does not cause any issues with my application.

Language: I still do not have much of a foundation in Spanish, so please pray with me that language learning goes smoothly. My prayer is that the Lord would give grace to the people around me so that they can laugh at me, and I can laugh at myself, and we can all laugh at me together. But in all seriousness, I would love for this not to be a major barrier to being able to show Christ to the people I meet.

Speaking: I have been asked to speak at the Students International fundraising banquet on September 14th. I am so excited for the opportunity to share how God is moving, but also nervous. The idea of speaking to a room full of adults is far more intimidating than a room full of high schoolers! Please pray for a clear mind, and that God would make it clear what He would like me to share.

My heart: Please pray that the Lord would continue to soften and prepare my heart for what He has. This season of transition has been much more difficult than I expected, and I would love your prayers for grace, for healing, and for focus on Jesus as I move into this next season.

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
